Favourite Singer

Dewa 19

I first heard their songs when I was 15 years old, secondary school which still mean puppy love. I remember hearing their songs all day before going to school and after coming back from school. I just couldn't get enough of them. The situations I was going through, their songs could relate to them all the heartbreaks, excitement of liking someone Dewa 19 songs pictured my feeling perfectly.

Kasidah cinta, risalah hati, selimut cinta and satu are the songs that I remember and could sing by heart.  The words that they use are not flowery, they use simple words that send whatever message they want to send, successfully. All of their songs are originally written by their own group member Ahmad Dhani, he is a music maestro.

I actually thought that I don't have any specific favorite singer or band. There are singers which their songs I totally love but somehow I don't love the singers. their personality does not match the song they preach. They are so different. To me at least.

The Cranberries

It was 1995(I think) and I was 5 years old. My family and I were in the car heading to Port Dickson and suddenly there's this catchy song that kept repeating
In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
in a very strange melodious way on the radio. It didn't took a long time for me to eventually get the tune and sing along(only to that zombie phrase). But it did took me a long, long time to know who sang the song, The cranberries. Yup, cranberries as in the fruit cranberries(I suppose?).

I'm not interested talking about the band much
See, not that interesting right? Well maybe the lady's hair..
I'm more interested talking about memories and feelings that the songs they sung has given me. Not that I've heard hundreds of their songs I've only heard two but yet those songs managed to penetrate through my unknown feelings and relive happy old memories. the songs I'm talking about are  Zombie(of course) and Linger.

According to Wikipedia the song Zombie was produced and aired in 1994. I don't know what the song meant and I still don't but from the lyrics:
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns
I assume it's about violence that was happening around that time. However I magnificently(ignorantly) relate that song with happy memories. Every time I hear it my mind would travel back to 1995, me in the car gleefully singing excited to hit the beach. Although the memories comes in glimpses but I still could hear what I heard and feel what I felt.

Linger is song produced in 1993 a year before Zombie ironically I only knew about its' existence like 10 years after zombie. My God! I don't remember exactly how I(my ear) stumble into it but I remember it was around that time, after 10 years. Why this song attracts me? It's because of it's repetitive(again) word in the chorus:
Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?
I was 15 and it was not the melodious tune but instead the meaning of the song itself. okay I'm lying not the whole song but a line form the song:
You know I'm such a fool for you.
Yeah, that! being 15 means that I am a teenager and being a teenager means puppy love. That line just relates to what I was going through at that time. I was a fool for someone although still am but for a different person and with a stronger grip on what's reality and what's fantasy. I think?

Named after these.

 Really?

Favorite Fictional Character

Samantha Jones. She is undeniably my favorite fictional character. She is vicious, headstrong, confident, honest, proud and unafraid of confrontation. She would die for her friends and she is loyal to them. She survived the big C, she made no fuss about it and most importantly she does not depend on men to be successful and happy. She leads a life that all women dream of or at least I dream off. Somehow I felt that I can relate to her character or maybe I just want to be related to her because to me Samantha Jones is the women role model of the 20TH century.

She works as a public relations officer, she is fashionably gorgeous and super vicious. Samantha Jones is a character form a television drama, Sex And The City which was adapted from a novel with the same title and then made into two movies. Samantha is one of the four main character of the series and also the oldest and and the most successful. Why is she my favorite character? Easy, it is because she inspires me. Other then the characteristics that I've mention above Samantha is also independent, she sticks to her words, she is true to herself, she fights for her rights, she fights for her friends right and she does not let men take her for granted.

Samantha never let failure to pull her down. Her courage and calmness facing them has thought me to accept and overcome my own failures. When Samantha turned down a dinner date from a guy whom she was crazy for because she already has plans with her girlfriends it  really made me see what friendship and her friends meant to her. Because if you know Samantha, you would also know how much she loves men! Throughout the six series and two movies Samantha had never actually taken offence of her friends rude remark of her. Samantha would shake it all off and not make it a big issue. Unlike her other three friends, they would prolong an argument and keep arguing until they think they would loose the friendship. Very immature and very unlike Samantha.

I couldn't help to wonder if  I can actually be like Samantha Jones? Well I may not have the blonde hair but I think I can cause Samantha isn't a super hero with super extraordinary powers but she is a hero with extra ordinary traits which can be learned if not given naturally.

Carrie: Damn! Why is that girl still bothering me?
Samantha: Honey, you have to let it go. If I worried about what every ***** in New York was saying about me, I'd never leave the house.

On GLEE

                                             Of Puck "Puckerman" and Beth.

"Dad, what's Mom like?" a question Puck has been asked a thousand time yet never get bored or irritated of. "Well, you have her eyes and her hair colour, her sweet, soft, feathery voice and you're definitely as beautiful is she is" Puck and Beth smiled as they walk down the aisle. After all these years and even on her wedding day, Beth never got bored of the same question and the same answer. As much as Beth wants her mother to be by her side on her wedding day or on her first day of school or on her prom night or on her graduation she knows, she knows that Quinn would also want the same thing. Losing her Mom at four years old is something that wounds her but thank god, thank god Puck was there for her and still is. As Puck and Beth reach the altar, they kiss on the cheek and embraced each other, Puck whispered to her daughter "You and your mother are a gift form God that I shall eternally Thank God for."
